Sónar is the International Festival of Advanced Music and Mew Media Art created in 1994, which is held in Barcelona for three days every June.

The festival has regularly travelled beyond Spain's frontiers since 2002, with events in different places around the world, adapting the Sónar philosophy to unique venues and environments, and highlighting the most interesting homegrown talent and the scene in the city where it takes place. As well as the event in Barcelona, Sónar organizes festivals every year in other cities, including São Paulo, Tokyo and Cape Town. In previous years, it has travelled to London, Frankfurt, Seoul and Buenos Aires, among many other destinations around the world.

Sónar is a pioneering festival that is unique in terms of its format and content: it is an international benchmark of the first order thanks to an outstanding cultural range that combines entertainment, artistry, the cutting edge and experimentation with new musical trends that set the international agenda.

At all its events, Sónar sounds out the current landscape of electronic music and its interactions and hybridization with other artistic disciplines, bringing together established artists and the emerging talent that renews and innovates in all areas of musical and audiovisual creation.

The Sónar Barcelona artistic programme is divided between the activities at Sónar by Day (concerts, showcases, professional zone, exhibition area), the keynote of which is the search for new talent, and the large format shows at Sónar by Night, which feature more well-known leading names on the international music landscape.

Visitors from over 90 countries attend Sónar each year to enjoy an impeccable line- up featuring hundreds of artists from all over the world. Sónar is also a meeting point for professionals from various sectors in the creative industries, who find SonarPro an ideal place to do business, exchange ideas and network.
